Noble Vision recognizes the importance of Information Management within the Network Management environment. The consolidation of data is critical to the management of multiple large networks, reducing the time required for routine administration tasks and streamlining the maintenance of Network Management tools. To that end, Noble Vision employs a consistent device naming convention. Device data is then easily collected from multiple management tools into a single, centralized database. Noble Vision then uses automation to manage mass network interface properties and thereby eliminate many hours spent maintaining network elements across different tools. Our methods have been proven to result in bandwidth utilization reports that network support engineers can trust. Noble Vision has also developed a systematic approach to cataloging circuit IDs which reduces the troubleshooting time of point to point circuit issues. Solutions provided by Noble Vision make network information readily available. Network elements can therefore be quickly compared to locate inconsistencies and resolve them in real-time. A strong Network Management foundation not only improves accurate feeds into DNS, QIP, and CMDB but improves the entire business.

The modern way to build data systems is to separate the operational processes from the informational or analytical processes. The requirements for reliable storage and efficient access of data elements are fundamentally different, with each aspect of the design serving different user communities within the organization. Network Management tools are designed primarily to monitor network devices and generate large amounts of operational data for the enterprise network. Analytical Warehousing systems are designed to look across a broad range of static data over long periods of time. Noble Vision's custom-designed Data Warehouses bridge the gap between these two systems. Our custom-designed Data Warehousing systems allow storage of as-polled network statistics while freeing up Network Management System resources normally allocated to storage and reporting. There are substantial advantages to custom designing the data warehouse:

• Trending Analysis: Trend detection is made possible by storage of historical data for longer periods (network management tools store data for relatively short periods).
• User-Specific Alerts: Alert thresholds for metrics can be easily determined and users can receive timely and relevant information for their specific service level agreement (SLA) needs.
• Enhanced Presentation and Reporting: Different Network Management tools often employ different naming conventions for same devices. In a custom solution, consistent naming conventions and groupings allow faster associations among devices, their locations and their customers.

Noble Vision's custom-designed Data Warehouses also archive Network statistics collected from network devices that are not supported by the Network Management tools. Micro Strategy, Hyperion Brio, PHP, and Java tools provide portals and scheduled reports on stored data for capacity planning, forecasting, service level reporting and trend reports with blazing speeds (gigabit). Noble Vision's Data Warehouse solutions store data in a customer-preferred database such as Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, or MySQL using a custom schema developed to serve specific business requirements.

Network Management tools require customized reporting to enhance and consolidate essential data that is critical to the management of an enterprise network. Noble Vision’s custom reports complete and complement existing Network Management reports. For instance, out-of-the-box Network Management tools do not support collecting statistics from video devices. Noble Vision is able to create custom poller processes which drive custom reports on these otherwise unsupported devices. Our TACACS exception reports use daily logs to display information about configuration changes. Noble Vision’s Weekly and Monthly SLA reports are generated using eHealth group and trend reports. Our Weekly switch port activity reports are generated using user tracking data from CiscoWorks.

Noble Vision creates the automated processes that are critical to maintaining the health of Network Management tools. These processes include: backup of application configuration files, alerts for low license levels, status checks on critical processes and configuration archives for network devices. Additionally, Noble Vision's verification and validation processes perform validity checks on each device group listed in eHealth.

An Application Profile is a study that measures and evaluates the behavioral characteristics of an application in terms of network traffic flow and response time. Noble Vision’s Application Profiling process tracks an application’s transaction data volumes, measures end-to-end transaction response times and evaluates the overall efficiency of the application. The results of our Application Profile study allow us to help our clients identify anomalies that may impede application performance and focus resources on specific areas for maximum impact.

Network Management tools discover elements differently. This creates many isolated lists of managed network devices. The out-of-the-box eHealth application improves on this by discovering devices but does not maintain interfaces with the devices. Without an active discovery process, this could lead to duplicate elements on device lists. Noble Vision’s Network Management Correlation solutions generate exception reports that display inconsistent elements between tools, network interface changes and network bandwidth changes. Our solutions also employ an Openview process to update remote collection stations with list-based discovery file information.
